The International Order of Odd Fellows is an international fraternal organization whose aims are to promote good fellowship between all men of all nations of the world. The symbol of 3 links stands for friendship, love and truth and the elevation of human character.
The main activities of the Grand Lodge in Ontario during the time period represented by this file were the Cancer, Polio and Tuberculosis program; the hospital bed program and the maintenance of the fraternal newspaper.
The Odd Fellows or Oddfellows were first documented in the 1700s, in London England, although some say that the roots can be traced back to the 12th or 13th Century. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is religiously and politically independent. This group was founded in 1819 by Thomas Wildey in Baltimore, Maryland. The IOOF currently has chapters all over the world.
The Daughters of Rebekah which are also known as the Rebekahs or the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, is also an international service organization.
