Contains a letter by George Prevost, in which he mentions the Battle of the Thames (Moraviantown) (p. 170). He writes “that on the 5th of October…it was his [Col. Proctor] intention to take up at the Moravian village on the river Thames, he was attacked by so overwhelming a force…that the small numbers he had with him, were unable to withstand it.” He also mentions Tecumseh, stating that “Tecumseh, at the head of 1200 warriors, accompanied our little army on its retreat from Sandwich; and the Prophet, as well as his brother Tecumseh, were of the most essential service, in arresting the further progress of the Americans; but as to the extent of our loss on this occasion, or the particulars of this disastrous affair, I am, as yet, ignorant”. The Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle was a monthly periodical published in England during the years of 1736-1833. The volumes of interest from 1812-1815 were written and compiled by Sylvanus Urban, Gentleman. These volumes were Printed in London by Nichols, Son and Bentley at Cicero's Head, Red Lion Passage and Fleet Street.
