Note to Peter Bradt from John Oakley “…to send 200 ft. of boards for Baptist meeting house in Niagara”, 5 August 1831. John Oakley was a former British soldier who built a Baptist Church in 1830. He served as the pastor of the church, whose congregation was predominantly black.
