Abstract

The Press, Volume 17, Issue 23 includes: Student referendum shows strong support for Pat Meagher as next year’s BUSU President; less conclusive support for OFS retention at Brock; and Peter Park will be next year’s Ombudsperson; University sports face a major crisis as the Ontario University Athletic Association (OUAA) threatens to pull out of the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (CIAU) over disagreements on sports scholarships; Peter Van Asten responds negatively to Kevin McCabe’s prior article on creationism and discourages students from attending the upcoming lecture by Dr. D.T. Gish; Steve Leonard, a student at A.N. Myer High School, collected 7,500 signatures to protest what he thinks is discriminatory wage legislation; Ontario professors are leaving the province due to the government’s under-funding of education, according to the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA).
