Abstract

Original 19th century Ceinture Flechee, similar to the sash that was said to have been presented to Isaac Brock by the Shawnee Warrior Tecumseh. This Ceinture Flechee, an elaborately braided sash consisting of alternating lines of white, red and green, was given to Isaac Brock by the native chief Tecumseh. This happened at a meeting of the two leaders before their attack at Detroit, where Brock presented Tecumseh with the red sash from his uniform. In turn, Tecumseh presented Brock with his sash. This same belt was worn by Brock when he was killed in the Battle of Queenston Heights. The original sash is kept at the National Museum of Civilization, Ottawa.
