Abstract

The collection contains three church year books, a church program, a news clipping, and a list of reasons for up-to-date Christian education facilities. The year books contain photographs of members, as well as a directory of members. The earliest year book has no date. The other two are dated 1985 and 2004. The church program is for a service on June 6, 1971. The news clipping is dated July 31, 1971 and provides a history of the Chippawa Presbyterian Church shortly after a fire had destroyed the church.

Description

The Chippawa Presbyterian Church was established in 1831. There were twelve charter members, but by 1834 the membership had increased to 71. A church was built in 1843, but was later sold and relocated. A second church building was erected in 1891, constructed of red brick. A third church was built in 1960, which connected to the old church by a passage-way. The old church was repurposed for Church School work and Christian Education activities. A fire in 1971 destroyed this building, but the new church remained intact. The church was renovated and expanded in 2010 to accommodate the needs of the growing congregation.
