Abstract

(7 cm ¼ box) containing correspondence and press releases pertaining to the Canadian Gas Association

Description

The Canadian Gas Association began in 1907 with 12 members. The association’s objectives are: to promote the development of the Canadian gas industry in all its activities; to extend, increase and further the use of gas and approved gas-burning equipment; to collect, co-ordinate and disseminate information for the benefit of its members; to cooperate with other organizations regarding matters of standardization, safety, education and welfare pertaining to the gas industry and to promote mutual improvement of its members through exchange of useful information and ideas. In 1955 it adopted a new constitution which set the stage for expansion of its operations. Some of those operations included: initiation of a gas appliances approvals program in Ontario and British Columbia for one-stop testing of Canadian made gas burning equipment; the holding of regional meetings; publication of newsletters and the holding of workshop conferences. Members of the Canadian Gas Association include: natural gas distribution companies, transmission companies, equipment manufacturers and other service providers.
