Macdonald to Senator McCallum 24 May 1882, it reads: "I was a good deal distressed by the way we parted but I hope you have got into a more amiable state of mind. You must carry Monck & Haldimand for us - That once done if you are resolved to restore into the quiet dignity of our peers - I'm you're man."
