| dc.description.abstract | The Press, Volume 16, Issue 6 includes: CUPE vs. BUSU: The recently formed CUPE met with BUSU and a conciliator to discuss job security; should the conciliator hand down a “no-board report,” CUPE will be in a legal position to strike; The Editor criticizes BUSU for not calling a General Meeting, as dictated by the constitution, over a “minute difficulty,” wonders what will happen when a serious issue arises; Welland mayor Eugene Stranges is opposed to the Frontenac Fuel company storing synthetic fuel in an unused storage bin in Welland; A public meeting at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School debated whether or not to strike Margaret Laurence’s The Diviners for celebrating promiscuity, sex outside marriage, and general anti-Christian values; opposing arguments included keeping education expansive and considering a text as a whole instead of focusing on snippets; Rugby – its roots and reasons: Prof. Alun Hughes of the Geography department at Brock, coach of the varsity rugby team, explains that rugby is not so much about winning, but rather participation and fun. | en_US |
