The collection includes items of Alexander J. Grant. Alexander J. Grant was born in Banffshire Scotland. He joined the Federal Department of Railways and Canals in 1886 and began the job of Chief Engineer of the Welland Canal in 1919. At one time he was the president of the Engineering Institute of Canada (source: "The Civil Engineer").

Fonds consist of 1 scrapbook containing 49 black-and-white photographs, 5 black-and-white maps, 1 black-and-white post card, a booklet and other items, including clippings, programs and invitations; and, 1 photograph album containing 47 col. post cards, 52 black-and-white post cards and 26 black-and-white photographs.
