Harry Grenville Ellsworth (1881-1945) was born in Wainfleet, Ontario. He was the son of John Wesley Ellsworth (1854-1922) and Margaret (Maggie) Overholt (1858-1923). In 1912 he married Emma Gertrude Mahaffy. Harry and Maggie Ellsworth lived in Port Colborne. He remained here until his death in 1945.

Ellsworth's collection contains black and white photographs of Port Colborne, including the Welland Canal, local businesses, and people. Other photographs taken around Niagara include the Niagara River; Welland Canal in St. Catharines, Port Dalhousie, Port Weller, Thorold, and Welland; Wainfleet; and the Humberstone Club.
