The origin of Brock's governing body can be traced back to the Founders Committee that was responsible for the formation of Brock University in the early 1960s. In December of 1964 the Founder's Committee was reconstituted as the Board of Governors, a name which held until 1972 when it was renamed the Board of Trustees.
